過氧化氫蒸汽(HPV)滅菌的特點是無殘留(其分解產物只有水和氧氣)和僅需較低的環(huán)境溫度 ,蒸汽發(fā)生階段增加了滅菌過程的實用性。過氧化氫蒸汽(HPV)已經對許多生物及不同級別的生物進行了滅菌測試,實驗證明:過氧化氫蒸汽(HPV)對包括細菌、病毒和真菌在內的微生物均具有廣譜殺菌的功效。過氧化氫蒸汽(HPV)對于普遍存在于環(huán)境表面的細菌孢子滅殺的有效性經驗證是可以反復進行的,因此,它位于Spaulding分類中的第一位。文件中列出的有機體是按廣義分類的(例如細菌、病毒和真菌)并按照它們的微生物特點進行了劃分。實驗證明,利用過氧化氫蒸汽(HPV)對微生物進行消毒滅菌可達到6-log的滅殺率。
