Secretogranin-5, also known as Secretogranin V, SCG5, SgV, Neuroendocrine protein 7B2, Pituitary polypeptide and Secretory granule endocrine protein I, is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide which belongs to the 7B2 family. SCG5 is widely distributed in neuroendocrine tissues. SCG5 binds to inactive PCSK2 in the endoplasmic reticulum and facilitates its transport from there to later compartments of the secretory pathway where it is proteolytically matured and activated. It functions as a chaperone protein for the proprotein convertase PC2, preventing its premature activation in the regulated secretory pathway. It is also required for cleavage of PCSK2 but does not appear to be involved in its folding. Plays a role in regulating pituitary hormone secretion. The C-terminal peptide inhibits PCSK2 in vitro.

Novoprotein Recombinant Human Neuroendocrine protein 7B2/SCG5 produced by mammalian cells expression system.Target protein is expressed with sequence (Tyr27-Glu212) of Human scg5 (Uniprot #P05408) fused with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

·Quality Control

Purity: Greater than 90.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stained gel.

·Formulation
  Novoprotein Recombinant Human SCG5 was lyophilized at 1mg/ml in 20mM PBS.

·Reconstitution
We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution of Novoprotein Recombinant Human SCG5 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100μg/ml, which can then be further diluted to working solutions.

·Storage
Lyophilized Recombinant Human SCG5 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Recombinant Human SCG5 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable up to 3 months below -18°C for future use.
